WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — A staff member at a downtown assisted living and memory care facility has tested positive for COVID-19, according to an email sent to residents Wednesday evening.

The employee at The Village at White River Junction tested positive on Wednesday and had not been to work since Saturday, according to the email signed by Executive Director Jodi Egger. The person is now in isolation.

The email did not describe the employee’s role and did not address whether additional staff or residents may have been exposed or were being tested for the virus.

Egger wrote that the facility was in contact with local health officials and was taking safety steps including requiring employees to wear face masks and adhere to screening processes; increased cleaning; restricting visitors; and canceling events.

Messages sent Thursday to Egger and other officials at the Village were not returned.
