Write-in candidate wins Bradford, Vt., Selectboard race

BRADFORD, Vt. — Voters approved the town budget and picked a write-in candidate to serve on the Bradford Selectboard at the annual Town Meeting done by Australian ballot voting on Tuesday. 

Meroa Benjamin, who ran a write-in campaign for a three-year board seat, won the race with 124 votes, beating out Todd Danis who got 79 votes, Sarah Surette, who had 44 and Anna Davidson, who received 38. Carole Taylor, who was running unopposed for a two-year seat, also won. 

Voters approved a $2 million town budget in a 250-43 vote. They also voted to move future Town Meetings to 9 a.m. on the Saturday just before the first Tuesday in March. 

Voters approved several articles, including one that asks for $2,000 for a tree warden to move dangerous or diseased trees on town-owned property.
