BRADFORD, Vt. — A 32-year-old Bradford man died of his injuries following a June crash, according to a Vermont State Police news release.
Jackson Metayer was driving a 2023 Mazda CX 30 north on Route 5 in Bradford near Charles Field Road at about 1:15 a.m. on June 15 when he swerved, crossed the center line, and went off the road striking a fire hydrant and telephone pole, the release said.
Initial reports indicated the vehicle was on fire after striking the telephone pole. An uninvolved motorist stopped and used a fire extinguisher on the vehicle.
Once on scene, Vermont State Police troopers, assisted by the Bradford Fire Department and Upper Valley Ambulance, removed Metayer from the vehicle, which was totaled.
He was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon for treatment.
On Tuesday, State Police issued a release saying that they had been informed that Metayer “has passed away as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.”
The cause of the crash, which occurred during clear weather and normal road conditions, remains under investigation.
