BRADFORD, Vt. — A 48-year-old Bradford man was arrested late Sunday night after he led authorities on a two-state chase, according to a State Police news release.

Troopers were looking for an unknown male who had been involved in a dispute earlier in the evening in Fairlee when they tried to stop a vehicle in Bradford that matched the description of the one he had been driving. Instead, the car “accelerated at a high rate of speed” near the intersection of Routes 5 and 25 in Bradford, and police started to chase it, the release said.

The vehicle drove across the Connecticut River into New Hampshire, then crossed back into Vermont at Newbury Crossing before eventually stopping in a driveway where police arrested the driver, Sean McGurk, of Bradford, the release said.

McGurk was due in Orange Superior Court on Tuesday to face charges of DUI 3, criminal driving with a license suspended, attempting to elude, and gross negligent operation of a motor vehicle, according to the news release. The disposition of the arraignment could not be immediately determined.
