Royalton Residents Asked to Boil Water

Wednesday, September 13, 2017

Royalton — A boil-water notice is in effect for Royalton’s municipal water system after a break occurred in the water main due to an ongoing sewer project, according to town officials.

The order took effect Tuesday afternoon.

“If you receive water from our system, please boil before use,” the Water Department’s website said. “We will do our best to keep everyone updated. Please pass this along to those you know. We are sorry for any inconvenience.”

Early Wednesday afternoon, the town’s Facebook page said test results are expected back on Thursday morning.

“As the new sewer line is not in use yet, there was not danger of cross contamination,” officials said in the Facebook post. “Water was shut off for about three hours while the main was repaired. Once the water was turned back on, a boil notice was issued until the water can be tested. This is standard procedure with any break of this size.”
