BARNARD — Voters will be asked to approve a $1.77 million dollar budget that breaks down into $918,720 for highway costs and an $855,702 for the general fund. Of that amount, the town is looking to raise $1.31 million from taxes.

Last year, voters approved a $1.25 million highway budget and an $822,000 general fund budget.

The amount to be raised by taxes is 9% less than it was last year, according to a report from the Selectboard.

Additionally, the town is asking voters’ approval to use $250,000 in surplus funds to put toward a loan taken out to pay for the fire and rescue building.

Voters will also elect one Selectboard member for a three-year term from the floor.

Town Meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, in Town Hall at 115 North Road. Barnard residents can vote on articles for the Windsor Central Supervisory Union during balloting from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
