Austin Dana Colson

South Royalton, Vt. — Austin Dana Colson, 19, died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, in Norwich, Vt.

He was born Feb. 13, 1998, in Lebanon, N.H. the son of Dana Colson, Jr. and DeAunna Claflin.

He attended Elementary and Middle School in Lebanon, N.H. where he played soccer, baseball, basketball and football. He later attended Hartford High School where he played baseball, basketball and soccer, a sport in which he really excelled.

Austin was very industrious, he already had started his own interior and exterior painting business, “A + C Painting.” At the time of his death, he was living in South Royalton with his girlfriend, Katie Grizzaffi.

Austin enjoyed maple sugaring, fishing, hunting, camping, candle and soap making, vegetable gardening and was a good backyard mechanic.

He is survived by his father, Dana Colson, Jr. of Sharon, Vt.; his mother, DeAunna McKinney and stepfather, William McKinney of West Lebanon, N.H.; his girlfriend, Katie Grizzaffi of Norwich, Vt.; a brother, Dakota Sawyer of Springfield, N.H.; a sister, Brianna Sawyer of West Lebanon, N.H.; a stepsister, Skylar McKinney of Lebanon, N.H.; his grandparents, Dana Colson, Sr., Beverly Curulla and her husband, Mark, all of Tunbridge, Vt.; Sherrie Oglesby and Wayne Claflin both of Enfield, N.H.; his great-grandmother, Lois Boles of South Royalton; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A dedication of the grave service will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018, at 6 p.m. at the Branchview Cemetery in South Royalton.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 175 LDS Lane in South Royalton, VT 05068.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, c/o Bishop Greg Kotec, 502 VT RT 110 Chelsea, VT 05038.
