Volunteer Coordinator Joins Visiting Nurse and Hospice for Vt. and N.H.

White River Junction — Cindy Wiegand is the new hospice volunteer coordinator for Visiting Nurse and Hospice for Vermont and New Hampshire.

Wiegand will be responsible for recruitment, coordination, supervision and program administration of the hospice volunteer program.

“I am very excited for this new career opportunity and look forward to working with all of VNH’s wonderful volunteers,” Wiegand said in a news release.

Wiegand earlier worked as a senior program coordinator at Vermont Law School in South Royalton. She holds a certificate in paralegal studies with a concentration in family law from Woodbury College and has more than 15 years of experience providing administrative support.

She became interested in hospice work after her father’s battle with lung cancer, during which her family relied on hospice support.

“I was inspired by the compassion, as well as their knowledge and experience, so much so that when I returned after my father’s passing, it became my goal to move into a career in caring,” Wiegand said in the release.

Patient Companion Is Employee of the Month At Mt. Ascutney Hospital

Windsor — Companion aide Pat Titus was named Employee of the Month for September at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center.

As a companion aide, Titus helps patients with grooming, tidying rooms, reading and other efforts to support the emotional well-being of patients.

“Pat understands that being in the hospital can be emotionally challenging, particularly for older patients who may have less family support,” Sharon Laskevich, Titus’s supervisor, said in a news release. “For anyone who is in the hospital, it’s good to have a friend, and Pat is a great friend. ... We know strong morale can lead to better outcomes, which is why Pat is such an important part of the care team.”

Titus, who lives in Windsor, has been an employee of Mt. Ascutney since 2009.
