HANOVER — Dr. Michael Melkers, of Hanover, earned fellowship status in The International Congress of Oral Implantologists on July 9.
The designation recognizes his education, research and clinical experience. Melkers practices at Lyme Road Dental in Hanover.
LEBANON — Dartmouth-Hitchcock physical therapist Michael Kerner is now a certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapist Specialists.
The certification recognizes leading clinical knowledge, experience and skills in orthopedic therapy and requires a minimum of 2,000 hours of professional experience and passing qualifying exams. Kerner, who practices in the Heater Road facility, has been at Dartmouth-Hitchcock for five years.
LEBANON — Dr. Sam Johnson, a physical therapist, has joined the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center outpatient clinic located at Heater Road.
Johnson earned his doctorate in physical therapy from Massachusetts General Hospital’s Institute of Health Professionals. He moved to the Upper Valley in order to serve patients with similar outdoor interests, including hiking, biking and rock climbing.
NEWPORT — Two free eight-week classes are being offered in Newport beginning in August to help participants learn healthy eating habits and work toward weight loss goals.
The classes will be held at the Newport Health Center, 11 John Stark Highway. Session 1 takes place Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m.-noon and runs from Aug. 21-Oct 9. Session 2 takes place Tuesdays from 5:30-7 p.m. and runs from Aug. 27-Oct. 15.
Participants in the classes will work with a registered dietician to learn about healthy eating, exercise, mindfulness and stress management. They also will receive $20 worth of fresh fruits and vegetables each week.
