BROWNSVILLE — Ascutney Outdoors, which operates an outdoor recreation area at the site of the former Ascutney Mountain Resort, has appointed a new executive director.

Shelley Seward will replace Jonathan Nichols, who resigned after two years in the position and will move to a new role focusing on the organization’s winter and summer operations.

Seward, who will assume her new position at the end of the year, has been a key part of building the nonprofit in a recreation and entertainment center since it was established in 2015, five years after Ascutney Mountain Resort closed.

In her new role, Seward will take the “lead in the day-to-day” operations and will oversee skiing and tubing, major events and community engagement, Ascutney Outdoors said in a news release.

In addition to a small ski hill and tubing, AO offers about 30 miles of trails for biking and hiking and hosts events including music festivals.
