West Lebanon — Karen Morton, of Lebanon, has been named executive director of Good Beginnings of the Upper Valley.

A graduate of Dartmouth College, Morton has years of work and volunteer experience with nonprofits such as Youth in Action, Wellspring Worship Center and the Lebanon School District, Good Beginnings said in a recent news release.

She “is passionate about serving local families and their children.”

Recently, Morton worked as the public relations coordinator for a best-selling author.

She currently works part-time at the Lebanon Opera House.

Morton and her husband are from the Midwest but came to New Hampshire to attend Dartmouth College. As they began their own family in Lebanon, without extended family nearby to offer support, they realized the value of the community around them, Good Beginnings said. The couple have four children.

“The Upper Valley has so much to offer families,” Morton said. “From play groups to story time, and from sports centers to medical facilities, there is so much available to families here where we live. Good Beginnings wants to be a part of that support by helping connect families of new babies with volunteers who offer an extra set of helping hands.”

Founded in 1986, the West Lebanon-based nonprofit offers local families with new babies hands-on support, education, “and community connection during a critical period of transition and challenge.”
