SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — All 472 employees of the Springfield, Vt.-based Health Care and Rehabilitation Services have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the organization said in a Thursday news release.

The nonprofit community mental health agency, which serves people in Windsor and Windham counties, implemented a vaccine requirement for employees on Dec. 1, according to the release. Less than 0.5% of the agency’s workforce opted to leave at the end of November, rather than be vaccinated.

HCRS instituted the requirement in order to protect clients and workers, the release said.

“Anyone seeking mental health, substance use, or developmental disability services can reach out to us for support without fear of meeting with a provider who is not vaccinated,” Anne Bilodeau, HCRS’ interim co-executive officer and chief human resources officer, said in the release.

To encourage vaccination last fall, the agency hosted free COVID-19 vaccine clinics in Brattleboro, Vt.; Springfield; and Hartford in partnership with Rescue Inc., a Brattleboro-based nonprofit group of emergency medical technicians.
