Lilac, adoptable from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society

“Hi! My name’s Lilac and I’m a 6-month-old puppy that came from Mississippi.

“I gotta tell you: I love it here! Vermont is where this girl is supposed to be. I came here with my dog friends and family and there’s not much history on us before we took that long ride. What I can tell you is that a nice woman met us and wanted to give us a chance at finding families of our own, so she brought us to Lucy Mackenzie.

“I really like people and I’m so very happy when I’m around them. I’m learning all sorts of things here, and everybody is very excited by how much I’ve learned. I’m outgoing, curious and really sweet, too.

“If you’ve been looking for a new four-legged family member, stop in and meet me today!”

(Lilac is up for adoption from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, located at 4832 Route 44 in West Windsor and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Lucy Mackenzie is also on Facebook and Twitter and can be reached at 802-484-5829.)

Baby, adoptable from Upper Valley Humane Society

Baby is a sweet 11-year-old cat. She loves treats, enjoys being petted, and loves having her chin rubbed. Her favorite toys are laser pointers and strings.

Baby lived with other cats previously and seemed to enjoy their company. She’s also been around dogs before and just needs an introduction before going home with one.

(Baby is up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.)

Kate, adoptable from Sullivan County Humane Society

“I am 6-year-old Kate! I showed up on someone’s porch and did not leave. They asked around and no one knew who I was so I was brought to Sullivan County Humane Society.

“Thank goodness; as you might be able to tell, I like food and was not sure where my next meal would come from if I had to fend for myself. Here they feed me, but they are mean and have said I need to be on something called a ‘diet’ so sometimes my food bowl is empty. They say I need someone to adopt me who will keep me on my diet. I say take me home and give me lots of food!

“I am vet checked, spayed, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and FIV/FeLV negative.”

(Kate is up for adoption from Sullivan County Humane Society, located at 145 Broad St. in Claremont. Please see hours on the humane society website at and Facebook. Call 603-542-3277 or email
