David, adoptable from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society

“Hi! My name’s David and I’m a 2-year-old neutered male. I came to Lucy Mackenzie as a stray and the people here have been so very nice to me!

“Lots has happened in a short amount of time. Let’s see ... I’ve been neutered, vaccinated, examined and have moved in to a very nice cat room where I have lots of kitty friends. It takes me a minute or two to warm up to people, but once I do, look out — I’ll be your best friend! If you can provide a safe and loving home to kitty that didn’t have the easiest start in life, stop in and meet me today.”

(David is up for adoption from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, located at 4832 Route 44 in West Windsor and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Lucy Mackenzie is also on Facebook and Twitter and can be reached at 802-484-5829.)

Bella, adoptable from Upper Valley Humane Society

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, and this week we’re featuring Bella.

Bella is a 1-year-old retriever mix. She’s very sweet and she finds great comfort in her human friends. Bella loves playing with toys and snuggling up on a nice soft blanket.

She has a hard time sharing her things and needs some help with manners, so she would prefer that her new family has lots of dog experience.

(Bella is up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.)

Zoe, adoptable from White River Animal Rescue

Zoe is a gorgeous 2-year-old Newfoundland. She loves to lay in your lap and stay underfoot as much as possible. Her favorite treats are fresh carrots and green beans but nothing beats peanut butter.

Zoe is a sweet girl who loves children and other dogs, but not cats. She does well inside and is fully house trained. She has lived in the same home since birth, both indoors and outdoors.

Please go to our website at www.whiteriveranimalrescue.org to fill out an application. We will contact you for an interview once your application has been reviewed. Our adoption fee is $500 and the minimum age for adopting is 28. To adopt a puppy under 5 months, you must be able to be home with the pup or take them to work with you. Dogs coming on transport arrive on Saturdays and you must be available to pick up your new family member.

(Zoe is up for adoption from White River Animal Rescue, who can be reached at adoptions@whiteriveranimalrescue.org. Follow the rescue on FacebookTwitterInstagram and Pinterest.)

Waverly, adoptable from Sullivan County Humane Society

“I am 2-year-old Waverly. I was a stray being fed by the neighborhood but the people feeding me decided it was better if I get a family of my own!

“I am a real sweetheart and would love a mom and/or dad!

“I am vet checked, spayed, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and FIV/FeLV negative.”

(Waverly is up for adoption from Sullivan County Humane Society, located at 145 Broad St. in Claremont. Please see hours on the humane society website at www.sullivancountyhumanesociety.org and Facebook. Call 603-542-3277 or email sullivanhumane@hotmail.com.)

Bailey, adoptable from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society

“Hi! My name’s Bailey and I’m a 7-year-old spayed female mixed breed. I’m a big beautiful girl that is also very big on love!

“I came to Lucy Mackenzie when my dad died. I was lost without him at first, but then I made lots of new friends. Making new friends is one of my most favorite things! Since I’ve been here, lots of good things have happened. I’ve always had really red itchy skin, but not anymore. In my former life, I really loved human food … like really, really loved it. I can’t have it anymore, because it makes me feel horrible. I also eat a special hypoallergenic food that has made such a difference.

“In my new home, I would like very comfy beds, a nice fenced-in area I can play in and people that will make sure I lead a healthy life. My new home should have no cats or small dogs. There’s a chance I could live with another larger dog, as long as we got along.

“I’m a fun-loving girl that promises to bring lots of smiles and laughs to my new family. If you think we’d be a good match, stop in and meet me today!”

(Bailey is up for adoption from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, located at 4832 Route 44 in West Windsor and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Lucy Mackenzie is also on Facebook and Twitter and can be reached at 802-484-5829.)

Charlie, adoptable from Upper Valley Humane Society

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, and Charlie’s adoption fee is 50 percent off!

Charlie is 4 years old and full of energy. He enjoys spending time with his human friends and loves to show his affection very enthusiastically.

Charlie knows some commands and is super food-motivated, so continuing his training will be a blast. He doesn’t get along with other animals, so Charlie needs to be your only pet.

It’s time to find this sweet boy a loving home.

(Charlie is up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.)
