Bart, adoptable from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society

“Hi! My name’s Bart and I’m a 10-year-old neutered male. Well, it’s difficult to say exactly how old I am, but let’s say I'm 10-ish.

“I came to Lucy Mackenzie from the south, where I was found as a stray. The veterinarians, who have taken such very good care of me, figured out that I had pneumonia that went untreated. It left me with a cough and lots of chronic lung issues. We’ve tried many different medications during my time here, and while I won't ever be 100 percent, health-wise, I feel pretty good most of the time! I look forward to my walks and lying in the sun. I’m a great explorer and incredibly gentle. We’re not sure if my pneumonia will ever return or what my future holds medically, but I look forward to making each day the best I possibly can!

“I really like other dogs and cats, and could even live with them if they are healthy themselves. The people here can explain more about my needs. They tell me that they’re looking for a special home for me because they think I’m most definitely a special boy.

“If you have room in your heart and home for a very special dog that may not have long in this world, but promises to bring you lots of love and smiles, stop in and meet me today.”

Bart is up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.

Harriet, adoptable from Sullivan County Humane Society

“I am 2-year-old Harriet! A kind family took me in when I was homeless but, unfortunately, their landlord would not allow me to stay.

“I do have one bad eye but that does not prevent me from being an absolute love! I am vet checked, spayed, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and FIV/FeLV negative.”

Harriet is up for adoption from Sullivan County Humane Society, located at 145 Broad St. in Claremont. Please see hours on the humane society website at www.sullivancountyhumanesociety.org and Facebook. Call 603-542-3277 or email sullivanhumane@hotmail.com.
