Marty, adoptable from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society
“Hi! My name is Marty and I’m a 2-year-old neutered male mixed breed dog.
“This isn’t my first time at Lucy Mackenzie; I was recently adopted and returned. I got in to a little tussle with a dog in my neighborhood and my human needed me to get along with all dogs at all times. So, back here I came.
“My human friends are helping me adjust and, in the meantime, we’re working on my patience and obedience. I’m getting better at walking on a leash with every walk I take, and my ability to wait is definitely improving. I like to explore and play, and I really like to be around people.
“The veterinarian that takes care of me realized that one of the reasons I had such itchy and rash-prone skin when I arrived was because of some food allergies, so I eat a special diet that the humans can tell you all about.
“I’m a really nice dog that really just needs a chance. If you’ve been looking for a new canine companion, stop in and meet me today!”
C.C., adoptable from Upper Valley Humane Society
“Hey! I’m C.C., a very handsome 8-year-old cat. I’m the type of guy who loves some good conversation — the more talking, the better! I like to spend my time lounging, chatting and exploring. I really enjoy the company of human friends, and I especially love having my chin rubbed.
“I previously lived with another cat and seem to like some of the cats here at the shelter. I just need a little time to warm up to new cats, since sometimes I can be a little bossy with them at first.
“I’m a declawed cat, so I’ll need to be kept indoors for my safety. If you’d like a handsome, chatty boy to hang with, please come meet me today!”
Lexi, adoptable from Sullivan County Humane Society
“I am 4-year-old Lexi. My human mom passed away. Her daughter wanted to try to keep me and the other four cats but sadly, was unable to do so. Now, here we are!
“My sisters Sydney and Sharona and my brother Dudley were already adopted. So, only my sister Shaniqua and myself remain. We would love to be adopted together. Once we get to know you, we are very sweet and full of purrs!
“I am shy at first but do warm up. Please give me a quiet, patient home to blossom in!
“I am vet checked, spayed, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and FIV/FeLV negative.”
