Leon, adoptable from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society

“Hi! My name’s Leon and I’m a 3-year-old neutered male that came to Lucy Mackenzie from a shelter in Virginia.

“I’m so glad I did, too, because I really like Vermont. I’ve had a blast playing in the snow, and look forward to the many spring and summertime adventures ahead of me.

“I’ve been working a lot on basic obedience behaviors with the people here, and am doing a great job/ Sometimes I think I’d really like to find a family that already has a dog, so I could have a dog-friend. I think that would make me very happy! I don’t need one, but it could be fun. The dog would have to be similar in size and be of the right temperament, of course.

“Small children tend to make me a little nervous, so a household with no children or older kids would be best.

“It might take me a bit to warm up to new people, but once I do, I promise I’ll be your best friend! If you've been looking for a deserving, loving new canine companion, stop in and meet me today.”

Leon is up for adoption from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, located at 4832 Route 44 in West Windsor and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Lucy Mackenzie is also on Facebook and Twitter and can be reached at 802-484-5829.

Marina, adoptable from Sullivan County Humane Society

“I am 2-year-old Marina. I just walked right into a kind woman’s home and settled in. She had never seen me before so immediately asked the neighbors if they knew me, but they did not. So, here I am!

“I am a sweet, beautiful girl! I am vet checked, spayed, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and FIV/FeLV negative.”

Marina is up for adoption from Sullivan County Humane Society, located at 145 Broad St. in Claremont. Please see hours on the humane society website at www.sullivancountyhumanesociety.org and Facebook. Call 603-542-3277 or email sullivanhumane@hotmail.com.

Diamond and Suzie (and several other bonded pairs), adoptable from Upper Valley Humane Society

This week, we’re featuring some of our overlooked animals: bonded pairs. We currently have six bonded pairs looking for loving homes.

What’s so great about adopting a bonded pair of animals? Well, they already come with a friend to keep them company when you’re not around. They’re twice the amount of fun, and twice the amount of love! Plus, you pay just half the adoption fee for the second pet.

Bonded pairs currently include dogs Diamond and Suzie, and Baby and Buddy; cats BooBoo and Jemima, and Alien and Too Cute; rabbits Joey and Santosha; and ferrets Pancakes and Waffles. Come in to meet these sweet duos and give them the homes they deserve!

These bonded pairs are up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.
