Lebanon Post 22 Avoids No-Hitter

Swanzey, n.h. — An efficient effort on the mound by Cam Blewitt went unrewarded as Lebanon Post 22 managed just one hit in a 4-0 New Hampshire American Legion baseball loss to Keene Post 4 at Monadnock Regional High School last night.

Kimball Union Academy gradaute Ben Bates had Post 22’s only safety, a sharp single to right field to break up Post 4’s no-hit bid with two outs in the ninth inning. Keene pitcher Jeff Williams threw a perfect game through five innnings and survived bases-loaded jams in the sixth and eighth to earn the win for Post 4 (4-6).

Three errors by Lebanon (5-8) combined with two Keene hits led to four unearned runs in the fourth off Blewitt. The Stevens High graduate threw just 75 pitches over eight innings, allowing five hits and one walk against three strikeouts to take the hard-luck loss.

Lebanon resumes play tonight at Manchester’s Gill Stadium, taking on Sweeney Post 2.
