Hanover’s Williams, Goss Qualify for New England Championships

— Hanover High seniors Noah Williams and Parker Goss qualified for next weekend’s New England Championships with top-25 performances at the New Hampshire Meet of Champions at Nashua South High.

Williams, who placed second at the Division II meet last week in Manchester, finished sixth yesterday with a time of 16:01.8. The Marauder boys finished seventh, one spot away from qualifying for New Englands as a team.

Seniors Sam Merrens (59th; 16:58.8), Wiley Little (62nd; 17:01.9) and George Voigt (63rd; 17:02.3) all placed in the top 65, while junior Garrett Ruley was 86th in 17:23.7.

Lebanon’s boys placed 15th, led by sophomore Josh Fontaine’s 41st-place showing in 16:45.1. Juniors Teddy Bessette (78th; 17:15.5), Cameron Stewart (110th; 17:47.3) and Henry Kovac (123rd; 17:58.4) and sophomore Nick Orgnic (136th; 18:22.2) followed for the Raiders.

Goss, who placed 21st at states, improved her time by more than a minute yesterday while placing 20th in 19:19.7.

Hanover placed ninth as senior Lydia Voigt (40th; 19:42.7), junior Aparna Alavilli (58th; 20:07.2), senior Elizabeth Haas (75th; 20:35.0) and senior Zola Doyle (77th; 20:36.1) followed for the Marauders.

The New England Championship meet is Saturday at Twin Brook recreation Area in Cumberland, Maine.
