Prouty Adds To Festivities

Hanover — The 32nd annual Prouty will add golf and a new bike route to this year’s cancer fundaraiser set for July 12-13.

All the changes planned for this year’s fund-raiser will be discussed Feb. 28 at an information session to be held from 5:30-7 p.m. in the sixth floor Research Atrium at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center.

The first-time golf component will take place July 13 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. with 18 holes of play. Also coming this year is a new bike route, to be called the Prouty 77. The 77-mile route will be added to the 20-, 35-, 50- and 100-mile (century) Prouty routes.

A number of the routes have been slightly changed to make them more appealing to cyclists of all different abilities.

Some 5,000 cyclists, walkers and rowers participated last year. The Prouty has raised more than $117 million since its inception.

This year’s two-day event will be headed by honorary chairman Doug Lewis of Pomfret.
