South Bend, Ind. — Natalie Achonwa had 23 points with 12 rebounds as No. 5 Notre Dame cruised to a 109-70 win over Utah State yesterday.

Markisha Wright had 14 points with 11 rebounds and Skylar Diggins added 12 points and 10 assists, marking the first time in seven years that three Irish players had double-doubles.

Notre Dame (6-1) dominated Utah State (2-7) in the paint, with Achonwa and other players hitting easy shots in the low post off feeds from fastbreak and half-court sets.

Notre Dame recovered after losing to No. 3 Baylor 73-61 on Wednesday night.

No. 17 UCLA 62, No. 12 Texas 42

Houston — Alyssia Brewer had 12 points and 11 rebounds, and UCLA held Texas to 24 percent shooting en route to a victory in the MD Anderson Proton Therapy Showcase.

Jasmine Dixon added 10 points for the Bruins (5-1), who have played three ranked teams already this season.

No. 19 Dayton 60
Michigan State 53

Dayton, Ohio — Cassie Sant scored 19 points, grabbed five boards and had four assists as Dayton defeated Michigan State, snapping a nine-game winning streak for the Spartans.

Andrea Hoover (10 rebounds) and Ally Malott scored 12 points apiece for Dayton.

No. 23 Miami 67, Davidson 35

Coral Gables, Fla. — Morgan Stroman posted 17 points and nabbed 13 rebounds to lead Miami over Davidson in a nonconference showdown.

Stroman was 8 of 11 from the floor and also led the Hurricanes (7-1) with six assists and four steals. The senior tied Kayona Hayes for the team lead with four blocked shots, helping Miami block 10 for the game. Krystal Saunders added 13 points and Hayes 12.

No. 25 Nebraska 78
No. 24 Florida State 77

Lincoln, Neb. — Jordan Hooper had a career-best 36 points and 12 rebounds to help No. 25 Nebraska slip by No. 24 Florida State, handing the Seminoles their first loss.

Hooper was 6 of 11 from 3-point range in her double-double performance. Emily Cady had 15 points. Lindsey Moore had 14 points, eight assists.

Nebraska (7-3) led 40-36 at halftime in a game with 17 lead changes.
