Men’s Soccer Goalkeeping Looking Strong
Dartmouth College’s men’s soccer team entered the season without a goalkeeper who had any varsity game experience. It looked like netminding might be a vulnerability for the Big Green, but early indications are that it might actually be a strength.
Sophomore Stefan Cleveland is 0-0-2 but boasts a goals-against average of 0.82 and a .929 save percentage. Freshman James Hickok is 2-0 and was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after backstopping victories over Boston College and Massachusetts.

“James Hickok was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after he posted a 2-0 record for the men’s soccer team with wins over Boston College and Massachusetts. After surrendering two early goals to the Eagles, Hickok settled in to help Dartmouth earn its first win of the season, a 3-2 double-overtime victory.
“On Sunday, he recorded his team’s second straight shutout and his first collegiate clean sheet in a 2-0 win over UMass. Hickok also had a hand on the offensive end, when his long punt was converted into an assist. Through two games, he’s made eight saves with a .800 save percentage.”
