Woodsville Boys Pull Away

Woodsville — The Woodsville High boys basketball team turned up the pressure and started making shots after halftime Tuesday, enabling the host Engineers to down Lisbon, 44-30, in a Vermont Division IV game.

After seizing a 9-2 lead in the first eight minutes, Woodsville led only 15-14 at halftime, but held a 17-4 scoring edge in the third quarter and coasted to victory. Tom D’Angelo, also a standout soccer goaltender, had 18 points and Joe Abrahamsen added 15 as the senior forwards helped their team improve to 2-0.

Lisbon “played a 2-3 zone and we didn’t shoot well in the first half,’’ said Engineers coach Jamie Walker, whose team visits Rivendell on Friday. “On offense, they rebounded well and got second and third and fourth shots. But we got some pressure on them in the third period and got some layups, plus we started making shots.”
