Dodgers Activate Kemp From DL

Los Angeles (ap) — The Dodgers activated Matt Kemp from the disabled list last night, and the All-Star outfielder was in the starting lineup against San Francisco after missing 24 games because of a right hamstring strain.

Kemp is batting .251 with two homers and 15 RBIs. He has struck out 60 times in 191 at-bats following shoulder surgery last October. Los Angeles went 11-13 without him.

Kemp, a two-time All-Star, was injured on May 29 while running down a double in right-center by Mike Trout at Angel Stadium.

It was the fourth time in Kemp’s eight-year career he has been on the DL, including two stints last season because of a left hamstring strain that cost him 51 games.

Kemp was 0 for 5 with four strikeouts on Saturday in the first of three rehab games with Triple-A Albuquerque. He finished his stint 2 for 6 with two doubles.

The Dodgers made room on the active roster for Kemp by optioning infielder-outfielder Elian Herrera to Albuquerque.
