Post 22 Juniors Win Opener
Keene, n.h. — Three pitchers combined on a three-hitter as the Lebanon Post 22 Junior American Legion baseball team edged Keene Post 4 2-1 last night in its season opener.
Ben Robinson (two innings), Chase Hussey (three) and Cam Broughton (two) teamed up to stifle Keene, whose pitchers also held Lebanon to three hits.
Robinson had two of Post 22’s hits, including a two-run single in the first that accounted for his team’s scoring. Caleb Broughton had Lebanon’s other hit.
The Post 22 juniors greet Newport (Vt.) tonight.
Lebanon Mak’s 2, Springfield 2
Meriden — Lebanon Mak’s rallied from a 2-0 second-half deficit to earn a draw with Division IV Springfield in a New Hampshire Soccer Conference game.
Graham Chickering converted a Julian Stott pass at 57 minutes to cut the Springfield lead to 2-1, and Stott scored on a penalty kick in the 66th minute to knot things up.
Mak’s is 0-1-1, and Springfield 0-1-2.
Lebanon Central Supply 6
Newbury, n.h. — Lebanon Central Supply raced out to a 5-0 lead on its way to a win over Kearsarge/Sunapee.
Martin Gradijan led the way for Central Supply with a hat trick, while Jeff Purdy, Owen Johnstone and Luke Sandmann all found the back of the net as well. Purdy’s goal, a left-footed ripper from 25 yards out, was of highlight-reel caliber.
Charger Earns Top Honor
Whitingham, Vt. — Colby-Sawyer College senior Cailin Bullett was selected the North Atlantic Conference’s Woman of the Year award in a vote of the league’s athletic directors.
Bullett was a four-year standout on the women’s basketball team, serving as team captain in each of the past two seasons.
A three-time all-conference award winner, she earned a spot on the first team in her final season in which she helped the Chargers to their first NAC title.
Bullett owns the career record for assists at Colby-Sawyer with 583 and also holds the single-season (197) and single-game (13) marks.
