Hanover, Lebanon Prep for States
Whitefield, n.h. — With Tucker Cadow cracking the top 10, the Hanover High boys cross country ski team raced to a second-place team finish yesterday at the New Hampshire Nordic Coaches Association five-kilometer freestyle race at White Mountains Regional High School.
Cadow skied to a time of 14 minutes, 14.6 seconds, to take ninth place. The Marauders’ scorers also included Colin Pogue (14th; 15:24.5), Chris Powell (17th; 15:34.8) and Sam Gurwitt (35th; 16:34.4), whose team tally of 71 points trailed only the 51 posted by Holderness.
Lebanon snagged seventh place out of the 21 schools in the boys competition. Lincoln Crutchfield led the Raiders by placing 23rd (15:48.5), and teammate Kenny Weitzman was close behind in 26th place (16:10.1). Ian Girdwood (45th; 17:02.3) and Jeff Taylor (53rd; 17:19.0) also produced points for Lebanon.
The Marauder girls were nipped by co-winners Concord and Bow in the team tally, winding up third. Helen Tosteson (15th; 18:17.8), Sarah Haedrich (17th; 18:22.9), Alexi Kim (24th; 18:52.7) and Elizabeth Goss (29th; 19:11.6) did the scoring for Hanover.
The Lebanon girls placed eighth as a team behind Kelsie Atwater (12th; 18:05.2), Hallie Bergwall (50th; 20:30.2), Liz Peterson (63rd; 21:12.6) and Sarah Berman (65th; 21:23.6).
