Bruins Game Delayed

Boston — The Boston Bruins have pushed back the start of today’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning by six hours because of the blizzard hitting the Northeast.

The game scheduled for 1 p.m. is now to start at 7 p.m. The Bruins and Lightning each already had road games scheduled for Sunday night.

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick declared a state of emergency and banned travel on roads as of 4 p.m. yesterday in anticipation of a blizzard that could bring nearly a yard of snow to the region. Public transportation also shut down yesterday afternoon.

The storm was expected to clear the area by early this afternoon.

Lovejoy a Duck

Anaheim, Calif. — The Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday acquired defenseman Ben Lovejoy — a former Orford resident and Dartmouth College standout — from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2014 NHL draft.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Lovejoy, 28, is scoreless this season. His best season was 2010-11, when he had 17 points, including three goals.

He was slated to make his Ducks debut last night in Dallas.
