Green Doubles At Relays
Hanover — Using wins in late events, the Dartmouth College men’s track and field team joined the women in sweeping to titles at the 44th Dartmouth Relays at Leverone Field House yesterday.
The Big Green men edged Northeastern, 128-113, for their second Relays championship in a row, their fifth in six years and their seventh since team scoring began at the 2003 meet. The women rang up 185 points to win their third team crown in a row, led by school-record performances from junior Abbey D’Agostino (mile; 4:34.15) and freshman Mollie Gribbins (60-meter dash; 7.76).
Lebanon High graduates Josh Cyphers and Dominic Filiano also contributed points for Dartmouth, with Cyphers taking third in the pole vault (14 feet, 6 inches) and Filiano claiming second in the shot put (51-1.5). Another ex-Raider, Cathy Liebowitz, contributed a win in the women’s weight throw.
Dartmouth joins Columbia in an Ivy League indoor meet at Yale on Sunday.
Hanover Sweeps Race
Peterborough, n.h. — Even without claiming an individual win, the Hanover High cross country ski team came away with victories during a seven-school meet on Saturday at Con-Val Regional High School.
Keyed by a runner-up finish from Christopher Powell, the Marauder boys shared the top spot with Souhegan in their classical race. Meanwhile, Hanover’s Alexi Kim led her teammates to a one-point win over the Sabers with a team-best fourth-place result.
Souhegan’s Jason Bender won the boys individual race in 12 minutes, 51 seconds, while Powell claimed second in 13:38. The Marauders filled out their scoring with Colin Pogue (fifth; 14:31), James Owens (10th; 15:20) and Miles Campbell (17th; 16:13). The Marauder girls went 4-6-8-12 to nip the Sabers; Katherine Torrey (16:09), Clare Snyder (17:13) and Lydia Vogt (17:50) followed Kim across the line for Hanover.
The Lebanon boys were right in the hunt in their race, finishing just 1½ points behind the Marauders and Sabers. Kenny Weitzman led the Raiders by taking fourth (14:05), with Ian Girdwood close behind in seventh (14:54). Lincoln Crutchfield (ninth; 14:54) and Jeff Taylor (16th; 15:58) completed Lebanon’s scoring.
The Raider girls also took third as a team. Kelsie Atwater paced Lebanon, finishing seventh in 17:08. Hallie Bergwall (15th; 18:15), Sarah Berman (17th; 18:48) and Liz Peterson (22nd; 19:31) accounted for the Raiders’ other points.
Boys team scores: Hanover 370, Souhegan 370, Lebanon 368.5, Plymouth 346, Con-Val 171, Merrimack Valley 97.5, Bishop Brady 87.
Girls team scores: Hanover 374, Souhegan 373, Lebanon 348, Plymouth 339, Bishop Guertin 332, Con-Val 278, WLC 80.
White River Junction — The Yellowjackets edged Rivendell in a best-of-three final, placing host Windsor first of four teams at a match at Upper Valley Lanes and Games on Saturday.
The runner-up Raptors were followed by South Royalton and Brattleboro.
Windsor’s Katie Comstock had the best round of the day, bowling 202 during one of the preliminary matches.
