Local Roundup: Hanover’s Temple Four Back at Stroke Play Event
Hudson, n.h. — Hanover Country Club’s Zach Temple is tied for 11th after the first round of the New Hampshire Golf Association Stroke Play Championship at par-72 Green Meadow Golf Club.
Temple shot a 1-under 71, four strokes behind Stonebridge Country Club’s Joshua Chamberlain (67). Four other golfers shot a 71.
Nashua CC’s James Pleat, a Dartmouth College graduate, shot a 74 and is tied for 20th.
The tourney continues today, with the top 40 golfers advancing to Thursday’s final round.

Rumford, r.i. — Lebanon’s Pat Pelletier is tied for 14th after the first day of the 83rd Rhode Island Open at par-70 Agawam Hunt Club.
Pelletier shot a 2-under 68 to put him five shots off the lead.
Hanover Country Club’s Joe Toland is tied for 66th with a 3-over 73. Troy Pare shot a 63 for a three-stroke lead.
Hartford Loses in Ripken Tourney
Skowhegan, Maine — Hartford was eliminated from the 11U New England Regional Tournament with a 4-1 loss to Andy Valley (Maine) in Skowhegan.
Alex Bushway had a triple for Hartford (1-2), which had only three hits off Andy Valley’s Atticus Soehren. Danny Bushway and Nick Clay had Hartford’s other hits. Alex Bushway took the loss for Hartford.
Andy Valley will face Riverside, Mass., today at 5 p.m. The winner will play host Skowhegan for the New England title on Thursday with the “if” game following at 5.
