KUA Tops Brooks
Meriden — The visitors arrived late because of bus trouble, then scored the game’s first five points. It was all Kimball Union after that in a 61-34 girls basketball victory over the Brooks School on Saturday.
With Miranda Judd contributing two three-point plays combined with the shooting of Taylor Ong and Abby Kelly, the Wildcats (9-4) reversed an early 5-0 deficit to build a 34-17 halftime lead. Kelly scored 17 of her game-high 27 points in the second half as KUA countered Brooks’ outside shooting with strong defense, particularly on the part of Kaitie Sanders and Shannon Walsh, the latter of whom held down Brooks’ top scorer, Alex Norgaisse.
Walsh finished with a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds, and Judd added five assists to her 16 points. Ong added eight rebounds.
Kimball Union begins a four-game road trip on Wednesday with a visit to Berwick (Maine) Academy.
