Letter: More Heat Than Light
To the Editor:
A friend of mine forwarded me Jim Kenyon’s July 22 column, “Dartmouth’s Hot Seat,” the thesis of which appears to fall somewhere between “Dartmouth is a flawed institution” and “I don’t fully understand the scientific principle of thermal conductance.” I graduated from Dartmouth in June, and I am in agreement that Dartmouth has its share of problems. The heat of its benches is not one of them, and to argue otherwise is a waste of everyone’s time.
Mr. Kenyon, even if you really don’t have anything better to do than whine about seating options in Dartmouth’s Arts District — which you also appear to harbor some sort of grudge against, for some reason — please don’t bother our staff members. As you noted, Justin Anderson, Dartmouth’s director of media relations, is very busy, and the last thing he needs is a Valley News columnist bothering him because you couldn’t sit down on a slate bench. My heart bleeds for you.
