Letter: Unanswered Questions About Benghazi

To the Editor:

As 60 Minutes pointed out recently, it is unconscionable that there has been no investigation and that no one has been held accountable for the death of Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Glen Doherty, who I knew, and two others in Benghazi, Libya.

Why wasn’t help sent after it was requested when the attack started? Who prevented help from being sent? Why did the Obama administration claim that the attack was a spontaneous result of a video rather than what it was — a well-organized terrorist attack timed to coincide with the anniversary of 9/11? Why wasn’t proper security for the U.S. Embassy in place? Why haven’t those responsible for embassy security been held accountable? Why was a Sunni terrorist released from Guantanamo and allowed to plan the Benghazi attack? Who denied Stevens’ request for more security, and why aren’t those people being held accountable?

These are a few of the questions that need to be answered. Someone somewhere in our massive dysfunctional government and those who were present who have not been allowed to speak know the answers to these questions and can identify those responsible for the death of Stevens, Doherty and two others. The failure to uncover the truth and hold accountable those responsible for the untimely deaths of our fellow Americans is outrageous. Moreover, the failure to go after the attackers is equally troubling.
