Letter: Hanover Rotary Auction Gala

To the Editor:

The best-kept secret in the Upper Valley is about to be revealed.

For quite a few years, the Hanover Rotary Club has held a boisterous auction gala evening once a year to raise money for a designated charity and for other worthy beneficiaries in our community, and to provide a night of good fun.

The club has been pretty quiet about this, as it has always been by invitation only, despite the fact that it has raised about $50,000 for each event. This year, Hanover Rotary is letting the cat out of the bag and offering a limited number of tickets to the public. The auction gala will be on Nov. 2, starting at 6 p.m., at the Hanover Inn. Hors d’oeuvres, wine and specialty beers will be served, and both silent and live auctions of amazing goods, services and travel will be part of this event to raise money for the Second Wind Foundation.

Tickets are $60 and can be purchased by sending a check to: Hanover N.H. Rotary Club Charities, P.O. Box 381, Hanover, N.H., 03755. More information and a preview of items can be found at the Facebook page www.facebook.com/hanovernhrotary. For more information or to order tickets by phone, call Sheila Young at the Second Wind number 802-295-5206.

Most of the proceeds will help fund the Second Wind Foundation’s new Willow Grove transitional housing for women in early recovery from addiction. For more information on that program and Second Wind, please visit www.secondwindfound.org.

Thanks to generous and numerous community sponsors, donors and volunteers, every Hanover Rotary auction has been a great success. Thanks to the work of every member of the club, others in need in our area and around the world have been able to achieve goals they otherwise might not have accomplished. Thanks to organizations like the Second Wind Foundation, many of our neighbors are now living with hope and fulfillment.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, I hope members of the community will make it purr through their support.
