Letter: Lebanon VFW Seeks Members

To the Editor:

Lebanon’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9552 is seeking men and women who have served our country honorably as soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen — retired, active duty, Guard and reserve — for membership, continuing service and camaraderie. Local veterans who qualify for membership are encouraged to join, participate and keep the rich heritage of the Wood-Guarino Memorial Post’s service to community and our nation’s veterans alive and well. You’ve served your country as a combat veteran; now, continue to serve your fellow veterans and community by joining and being an active member in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.

Dedicated to fraternal, patriotic, historic and educational ideals, the Wood-Guarino Memorial Post is deeply rooted in the community and committed to serve the needs of our nation’s veterans. The fundamental difference between our organization and other veterans organizations — and one in which we take great pride — is our eligibility qualifications. If you have received a campaign medal for overseas service; have served 30 consecutive or 60 nonconsecutive days in Korea; or have ever received hostile fire or imminent danger pay, then you’re eligible to join our ranks.

The post’s next meeting is Thursday evening, Oct. 17, at 7 at the Lebanon Soldiers Memorial Building, where you will be surrounded by military memorabilia dating back to the French and Indian Wars. The memorial building is on North Park Street, across from the city common. If you have any questions about the post or the VFW in general, feel free to contact Post Commander Everett Farnsworth at 448-1084, Fred Rogers at 643-1565 or me at 488-1602.
