Letter: Alternatives of Factory-Farm Meat

To the Editor:

I am responding to Warren Wright’s Sept. 17 letter, “Making Sure Our Food Is Safe.” I take issue with the fact that he thinks the only safe alternative to factory-farmed meat is “plant-based meat substitutes.” Many local farms produce healthy, humanely raised beef, chicken, pork and lamb. These animals are raised in their natural environments and allowed to eat their optimal diets which makes them very healthy animals, and in turn makes us that much healthier when we consume their meat. So instead of going to the supermarket, think about contacting a local farmer.
