Letter: The Joy of Chamber Singing

To the Editor:

On behalf of Bel Canto Chamber Singers, I would like to thank our friends and colleagues at the close of another season. For 36 years, Bel Canto has been making music in the Upper Valley, presenting great and challenging works from the classical repertoire and finding ever more creative ways to bring those works to our audiences.

We recently performed Ralph Vaughan Williams’ great choral cantata Dona Nobis Pacem, a work of tremendous emotional power and considerable musical challenge. We are grateful to our singers, our orchestra and our accompanist for their talents and dedication. Above all, we are grateful to our brilliant music director, Hal Sheeler, for the inspiration and energy he brings to every rehearsal and performance.

We love singing together, and we look forward to the joy of preparing more concerts next year. What we enjoy most, though, is bringing great music to our audiences. And so, as we end our 2012-2013 season, we wish to thank those who support us in ways too numerous to count. It is the enthusiasm of our audiences that keeps us going — and the continued generosity of our benefactors that makes what we do possible.
