Letter: Shame on Ayotte and the Senate
To the Editor:
“Shame on you!” That was what Patricia Maisch, who was in Tucson, Ariz., when Jared Loughner killed six people, yelled to the senators in Washington, D.C. as they voted no on expanded background checks. More than 90 percent of the American public support that change, yet the only winner in this fight is the National Rifle Association.
Shame on the NRA for its blatant lies to convince the senators and the public to believe them, and shame on those senators who accept blood money from NRA lobbyists. Finally, shame on Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., for saying no to this measure. We 92 percenters will not give up the fight to keep our children, our community and the public safe from gun violence.
