Letter: Howe’s Valued Volunteers
To the Editor:
In honor of National Library Week (April 14-20) and National Volunteer Week (April 21-27), I would like to thank the many volunteers who keep Howe Library humming. Last year, 106 volunteers donated 1,391 hours and performed a variety of tasks, including preparing books for circulation, processing mailings, participating in The Howel Classic mini-golf fundraising event, and offering their expertise on marketing, fundraising, long-range planning and new technology.
It is especially important to note that these statistics do not include the many hours that the 15-member board of trustees of The Howe Library Corp. devotes to the Howe. Their leadership and hard work with our annual appeal and The Howel Classic fundraiser are invaluable, and I am fortunate to work with such an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and steadfast board.
Each volunteer makes a valued contribution, and we rely on their efforts to assist us in providing quality services to our patrons. Their dedication makes our library a treasured resource in the Upper Valley, and all of us at Howe are extremely grateful for their guidance, generosity and cheerful spirits.
