Letter: Re-Elect Dingee in Cornish
To the Editor:
This year we have two people running for one position on the Cornish Selectboard: Larry Dingee, who has served on the board for 12 years, and Scott Baker, who will be running for the first time. They are both fine men.
I have lived in Cornish for 44 years. During my 22 years as overseer of our Department of General Assistance and Senior Resources, I have had the pleasure of working with Larry Dingee in several capacities, and know him as a man of many strengths. Whatever the concern, he will listen courteously and respectfully to every individual and vote fairly, thoughtfully and intelligently on difficult issues. He balances town law with respect for individual rights. He understands the burden we share as taxpayers, and the need to save money whenever possible. He has worked with me quietly behind the scenes to make sure the needs of our elders and people who face difficult challenges are met. Both he and his wife, Dale, are active members on our rescue squad.
Many small towns will face difficult decisions in these hard economic times, and this is where experience and the knowledge of town government and the heart of its people count.
This is why I encourage residents to vote for Larry Dingee on March 12.
I have the greatest respect and appreciation for the many good people who are willing to put in the work and long hours required to serve on committees, boards and in elected positions. This represents the wonderful spirit of community, and we couldn’t do it without you!
