Letter: Politicians Are Suddenly Quiet

To the Editor:

Where are our elected officials regarding President Obama’s modest proposals to reduce gun violence? It seems to me that people representing us at the national and state levels should be out front on this issue. Or does this present a dilemma for these people, many of whom supported adding procedures to the voting process to ensure that voting fraud wouldn’t take place but now are resistant to requiring people to register their guns and have a background check? Is voter fraud, which is virtually nonexistent, more important than protecting the safety of our children? The president said it’s time for a vote! It’s also time for New Hampshire’s state and national officials to stand up and be counted, too.
