Letter: Case of Cosmic Indifference

To the Editor:

The recent cosmic events, for example the near collision of an asteroid and Earth on Feb. 15, needs serious discussion by our do-nothing Congress. The asteroids are tracked and the technology exists to intercept and destroy these dangerous objects. NASA has the plans to do this except there is no funding by the paralytics in Washington. There will not be until a calamity occurs, and by then the world as we and future generations might imagine it will be dimmed, if not destroyed. Still our benighted representatives are proposing $20 billion for a manned mission to Mars. Perhaps we should sequester Congress?
