Letter: Hartford Legion Post Is Doing Well
To the Editor:
American Legion Post 26, Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion are doing well. The huge home has been sold, but bingo is still being held in the Briggs block, and regular meetings of the legion, auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion are held there.
There will be a new home in the near future. It will be smaller, but large enough for banquets, bingo, dances, meetings and other activities.
The Hartford post was organized in 1919 and received its charter April 3, 1933 with 84 charter members. The American Legion Auxiliary was organized on Feb. 27, 1934, and received its charter on May 24, 1934, with 40 charter members. The Sons of the American Legion was chartered in May 1986.
President, Auxiliary Unit 26
