Letter: Winter Evenings in Tunbridge
To the Editor:
The eighth season of Winter Evenings that began Jan. 4 at the Tunbridge Public Library is sure to be a special one. Thanks to donations from dozens of patrons and friends, the library has a new community meeting room addition in which to host such programs.
This community space was made possible by a $100,000 donation from Dr. Michael Sporn of Tunbridge to honor his late wife, Kitte. The Friends of the Tunbridge Public Library are raising an additional $40,000 for additional construction, including an ADA-accessible bathroom and entrance to connect the library and meeting room.
Former Gov. Madeleine M. Kunin headlines the speakers’ list, which includes Ben Hewitt, Jim Rooney, James Sturm, Steven Strong and Tunbridge Town Moderator Euclid Farnham, with the independent film Town Meeting. Past speakers include U.S. and Vermont poet laureates, artists, farmers, historians, journalists, authors, photographers and musicians.
All are invited to the free Winter Evenings programs at 7 p.m. on the first and third Fridays from January to March. Refreshments are served each evening, and authors are available to sign books after the presentation. The programs will be in the newspaper’s calendar listings and can be seen at www.tunbridgelibrary.org.
