Letter: Celebrate Volunteers at Good Neighbor Health Clinics

To the Editor:

The Good Neighbor Health & Red Logan Dental clinics provide health and dental care to residents of the Upper Valley who do not have health or dental insurance or who are underinsured. Last year, we provided important care to more than 1, 000 individuals. Our services are provided by an incredible group of volunteers.

As this week is National Volunteer Week, we would like to honor and thank all of our volunteers for their service and dedication. Our clinics, in White River Junction, Lebanon and Enfield with daytime and evening hours, are staffed with volunteer clinicians, nurses, clinic managers, receptionists, dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants. Students from Geisel School of Medicine, Dartmouth College, The Dartmouth Institute and others contribute valuable services as clinic volunteers who also offfer special programs — smoking cessation, vision screening, diabetes education and more. Talented volunteers assist with special projects that provide great value.

Volunteers also played an important role as we helped more than 100 people enroll in medical insurance as part of the Affordable Care Act.

Our clinics and services exist thanks to more than 200 dedicated volunteers. Please join us in thanking all our current, past and future volunteers. As volunteer coordinator, I speak for our board, staff and patients in thanking you for making every day at Good Neighbor a special one. And thanks to all the volunteers in the Upper Valley who make this a better place to live. Celebrate Service!
