Letter: Turning Points Walk April 26

To the Editor:

I will be walking in the Turning Points Network 8th annual 5K Walk and Fun Run on Saturday, April 26.

Why do I walk? I walk to support the people who must run from violence, to share hope and to be a part of the change.

I also walk in celebration of TPN’s good work, and to increase the visibility of TPN’s presence in the community.

Last, but by no means least, I walk to raise money so that TPN can continue to provide an emergency shelter for those fleeing violence, and to fund their innovative prevention education programs for our local schools. Each day TPN works to break the cycle of violence; Steppin’ Up is our chance as a community to join them in that important work.

If you’ve attended the event, you know how inspiring it is to be among hundreds of others working for a common goal. If you’ve never attended, make this the year you give it a try. The atmosphere is energized, the food is yummy, there are raffle prizes and we all leave knowing we made a difference by joining together to end violence. To find out more, go to www.free-to-soar.org or call TPN at 603-543-0155.
