Letter: Boost for Early Educators
To the Editor:
Bill S. 316 in the Vermont Legislature is a boost for the education for our youngest children. I urge all Vermont representatives and senators to vote for this bill, which would allow early educators throughout the state to choose to form a union, or not. By doing so, licensed and registered home-care providers would be able to work together, engage in professional development activities and share best practices to be used in their respective child-care facilities.
Our early educators play an increasingly important role in helping families balance work and personal responsibilities. They provide quality learning experiences for children at the very youngest ages, and they can be found in every community in the state. Vermont early educators help prepare children for success in school. These workers deserve a collective voice and a collective seat at the table.
I urge each legislator in Vermont to support our young children and their families by supporting Bill S. 316.
