Robert A. Walsh
Lebanon, N.H. — Robert A. Walsh, 75, died at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013. He was born on Oct. 22, 1938, in Malden, Mass. to the late James & Hazel (Healey) Walsh. Bob enlisted in the US Navy in 1956 and soon after married Elaine Young of Milford, N.H. He had worked at Commonwealth Lumber Co. in Malden. In 1967, they moved to Lebanon where Bob, Elaine and Elaine’s father Andrew Young began the Automatic Canteen Co. In 2008, they sold the business and retired. Bob was a member of the Lebanon Elks Lodge 2099, the White River Junction Legion Post 26 and the White River Junction VFW Post 2571. He enjoyed playing pool, wood working, bird watching, helping Elaine with her ceramic business, bus trips to Mohegan Sun and most of all family cookouts.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Walsh of Lebanon; two daughters, Cheryl Carroll and husband, David of Lebanon and Joanne Eastman of Enfield, N.H.; two sisters, Alice Bates of Saugus, Mass. and, June Jones of Salem, N.H.; three grandchildren, Robert Tobin and companion, Elissa of Lebanon, Angela Barton and husband, Jack Jr. of Lebanon, and Amanda Hogan and husband, Jerry of Canaan; nine great grandchildren, Saeti, Jasmyn, Tavian, Natasha, Dannika, Conner, Kaiden, Isaiah and Elijah.
There will be no calling hours; a celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lebanon Elks Lodge located on the Heater Road in Lebanon.
