Henning Robert Johnson

Bradford, Vt. — Henning Robert Johnson passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, in the loving company of his family and his nurses at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, N.H.

Born on Oct. 2, 1924, to Henning W. and Isabelle Christie (Richardson) Johnson, he grew up the fifth of seven children in East Orange, Vt. A graduate of Bradford Academy, he married Lorraine M. Considine of Lebanon, N.H. on Oct. 30, 1944. Early in their marriage they moved to Bradford where they built a home and began to raise their large family of six sons and one daughter. For many years Henning was a well known building contractor in the area employing a variety of local builders and tradesmen. As they grew up his sons learned the skills of the building trade, while their mother Lorraine provided bookkeeping services for the business in addition to her duties as mother and homemaker of the family.

After retirement he and Lorraine spent many years traveling to Florida with their camper. They spent winters in the panhandle area enjoying the beach and fishing while making new friends.

Henning is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lorraine; one sister, Elin Batten and husband, Russell; sons, Arvid and wife, Pamela, Ronald and wife, Deborah, Richard and wife, Beth; grandchildren, Lynne and Nathan, Sven and Erik, Sean and Christine, Jeremiah; many great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his children, Wesley, Thomas, Susan and Stephen; siblings, Karl, Ella, Arvid, Agnes, Bertha and parents Henning W. and Christie Johnson.

According to his wishes, there will be no funeral services. A memorial of his life will be celebrated at a future time yet to be determined.
