Darrel R. Clark
Largo, Fla. — Darrel R. Clark, 75, died peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013 in Largo, Fla. He was born in Portage Lake, Maine, on Aug. 16, 1938.
He graduated from Keene High School in Keene, N.H. in 1956 and then served in the US Navy from 1956-1960. He attended Leland Powers School of Broadcasting in Boston, Mass. graduating in 1962. Working in broadcasting business from 1962 until retirement in 2001. He worked in Brattleboro, Vt., Newport, Vt., North Adams, Mass., Keene, Lebanon, N.H., and NHPR in Concord, N.H. He married the love of his life, Linda Whipple, in June of 1964. He was very much a family man and enjoyed fishing, walking, reading, camping in Maine, and making people laugh.
He was predeceased by his father Arrie Clark, and his in-laws Ross and Lillian Whipple. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda; mother, Avis Clark; children, Tamara and Jon Sterling, Tracey and David Landry, Cory Clark and Sheri Varao; grandchildren, Briana and Jason Paronto, Justin Sterling and Stephanie Kalinowski, Arica Beach, Chelsea Sterling, Seth Sterling, step-granddaughter, Jennifer Landry, and McKenna and Tyler Varao; great-grandson, Cooper Paronto; sister, Sharon and Wayne Gordon; brother, Allen Clark; brothers-in-law, Lee Whipple, Val and Lorraine Whipple; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A burial will take place in Newport Center, Vt. at later date. Donations in his memory can be made to Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760 or the American Cancer Society.
