Armand J. LaFont
Claremont, N.H. — Armand J. LaFont, 94, of Claremont died on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Sullivan County Health Care. He was born on May 28, 1919 in Claremont, the son of Arthur and Elvia (Hamel) LaFont. Armand served in the Army and was a World War II Veteran, having served from 1942-1945. On August 1, 1958, he married Viola Fluette in Charlestown, N.H. He was employed by Dorr Woolen in Newport, N.H. His interests included fishing and hunting when he was younger. After his retirement, he enjoyed attending flea markets and yard sales. He was predeceased by his parents; one son, Richard LaFont; four brothers, Arthur LaFont, Victor LaFont, Ted LaFont, Raymond Lafont, and two sisters; Doris Roberts and Evelyn Colby. Members of his surviving family include his wife; Viola LaFont of Claremont; one son, Kenneth Lafont and his wife Melissa of Claremont, and three daughters, Sheila Decker and her husband Alan of Barrington, N.H., Gloria LaFont and her partner Ed Tucker of Claremont, and Katherine Maccioli of Bennington, Vt. He is also survived by two sisters; Leona Gagnon of Ascutney, and Lorraine Keyes of Croydon, N.H., as well as eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visiting hours. Grave side committal services will be held Thursday, September 12 at 11 a.m. Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Claremont with the Fr. Stanley Piwowar officiating.
